We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Cardiac Physiologist to join our expanding cardiology team in Greater London.
The post-holder will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality cardiology services, working autonomously within a community-based setting. This position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to continuously develop and optimise the cardiology service in line with team objectives.
The Cardiac Physiologist will ensure the highest standards of clinical care and contribute to both the efficiency and quality of the patient pathway. Working closely with the Operations Service Manager, Cardiology Manager, and other team members, the post-holder will ensure best practice is followed, and financial performance is safeguarded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Responsibilities:
- Perform and interpret Echocardiograms, 12 and 24 lead ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, and 24-hour Holter monitoring.
- Independently generate reports for all investigations, ensuring that any results requiring urgent medical attention are promptly communicated to the relevant physician or GP.
- Maintain a high standard of clinical care in your practice and support other staff in the specialty to uphold these standards.
- Manage a patient caseload and assess clinical risks, providing guidance to colleagues on risk management where necessary.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation in line with legal and service requirements.
- Service Development & Efficiency:
- Work closely with the Operations Service Manager and Cardiology Manager to develop and implement strategies that optimise patient pathways and enhance service efficiency.
- Proactively seek new methods of working to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs, ensuring maximum productivity within the cardiology service.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for cardiology staff and support effective communication networks within the community setting.
- Training & Development:
- Provide training to staff on cardiology techniques and procedures in line with policies and best practices.
- Participate in the education and training of physicians, nursing staff, and support staff in cardiac physiology techniques.
- Engage in personal and departmental development through participation in audit programmes, clinical practice reviews, and annual appraisals.
- Equipment & Technical Support:
- Offer technical specifications and advice for proposed equipment acquisitions, ensuring alignment with clinical needs and standards.
- Utilise GE equipment and the templated reporting system on System One to deliver accurate diagnostic results.
- Patient Care & Communication:
- Respond directly to patient queries regarding appointments, either in person or over the phone.
- Recognise the urgency of clinical requests and prioritise tasks accordingly.
- Promote patient confidentiality and uphold patients’ rights at all times.
- Audit & Quality Improvement:
- Participate in departmental and service-wide audits to evaluate clinical practice and patient outcomes.
- Contribute to service improvement activities aimed at enhancing the patient experience and clinical effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Membership of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience in cardiology.
- Eligibility to work in the UK in line with UKBA Immigration Regulations.
- Access to transport to move between clinic sites.
- Experience using GE ultrasound equipment and reporting systems such as System One.
- Non-invasive cardiology experience (standard Echocardiograms).
