We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to assist in the provision and further development of an effective Multi Agency Support Hub (MASH).
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to assist in the provision and further development of an effective Multi Agency Support Hub (MASH) service for children and families within the Channel Islands. The role involves working closely with other agencies, professionals, and members of the public. The successful candidate will also support the Children and Families Social Work Service, undertaking child protection investigations, early help assessments, and work with children in need, those in need of protection, and those subject to Care Requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in multi-agency information sharing, risk assessments, and decision-making discussions within MASH.
- Respond to child protection concerns and undertake single and joint Child Protection Investigations when required.
- Complete Early Help Assessments, identifying appropriate interventions to support children and their families.
- Undertake tasks as requested by the MASH Practice Manager.
- Hold a caseload of child in need, child protection, and care requirement cases.
- Assess the needs of children and families using theoretical frameworks to produce, monitor, and review child’s plans (single assessment) within agreed timescales.
- Undertake specific pieces of work as directed following the completion of child’s plans or due to child protection registration.
- Implement and monitor robust child protection plans and undertake assessments or investigations as required by the team manager.
- Ensure adherence to child protection and child in need procedures and provide monthly governance information on statutory visits, core groups, and child protection plan reviews.
- Provide effective evidence-based interventions to families where children are in need of protection and present cases to child protection conferences.
- Present cases to and attend court and the Child Youth and Community Tribunal as required.
- Prepare reports and represent Children’s Health and Social Care both orally and in writing appropriately at all times.
- Prepare assessments, statements, and care plans for Court and provide evidence as required.
- Work in partnership with parents, colleagues, and other agencies, ensuring the child is central to any process.
- Ensure adherence to Health and Social Services policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Actively participate in monthly supervision sessions with the line manager.
- Participate in a duty backup rota system for cases held within the teams.
- Participate in the out-of-hours social work rota.
- Undertake any other duties as determined by the Associate Director, Children and Family Community Services.
Key Criteria:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Recognised Social Care Qualification (e.g., Diploma/Degree in Social Work or CQSW).
- Registered with Social Work England.
Essential:
- Post-qualification experience in child protection work.
