National Locums are working on behalf of a private client based in Birmingham who are looking for experienced Theatre Practitioners to support the delivery of surgical procedures.
Our client provides community-based services for patients across multiple regions on a national scale.
The ideal candidate will come from a background as a Theatre Practitioner, Theatre Nurse or Scrub Nurse with experience in Orthopaedics. You will work in hospital operating theatres and anaesthetic/recovery areas. You will also be involved with procedures on wards, clinics or in other specialist areas. You will work as part of a large team that will include surgeons, anaesthetists, ODP’s and theatre support workers.
Some of the main clinical responsibilities will include:
- Conducting pre-op assessments and tests of the patient prior to admission
- Support the anaesthetist and surgeon by preparing any specialist equipment, devices and drugs.
- Prepare all the necessary complex instruments and equipment
- At recovery stage, you will offer patients care and support on arrival at the post anaesthetic care unit
- Monitor the patient’s health
- Assess prior to discharge back to the ward
You must hold the following in order to be considered:
- Qualified Adult Nurse, RGN or AHP
- NMC or HCPC registration
- Minimum 2 year’s theatre experience in a similar environment
