We are seeking an experienced and highly specialised Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated team in the Channel Islands.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of settings, including acute, rehabilitation, continuing care, and community environments. The successful candidate will manage a diverse clinical caseload and provide specialised services to adults with speech, language, communication, and/or swallowing difficulties.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide specialist speech and language therapy assessment and intervention, developing effective, individualised care plans using evidence-based practice.
- Manage and prioritise your own caseload independently, including triaging and overseeing referrals.
- Offer specialist dysphagia advice and support, and cover for the Lead SLT.
- Conduct instrumental swallowing examinations, report findings, and design therapeutic programmes.
- Collaborate with other health and social care practitioners for complex cases.
- Write comprehensive discharge and progress reports for medical referrers.
- Identify and make appropriate onward referrals using differential diagnostic skills.
LEADERSHIP & MANAGERIAL
- Supervise the Band 6 SLT, SLTA/Support Worker, and coordinate SLT students.
- Conduct clinical risk assessments and implement risk management plans.
- Provide advice to junior colleagues and contribute to service development and policy adaptation.
- Propose and comment on service/policy developments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with a Certificate to Practise.
- Certified membership with RCSLT and registration with HCPC.
- Suitable for registration with States of Guernsey Public Health Department.
- Postgraduate dysphagia training qualification
